NON-STICK COOKWARE
Follow manufacturer's instructions. As a rule, let non-stick cookware cool, then wash or wipe out with sudsy water.  Allowing pans to cool prior to washing helps prevent warping.  Rinse thoroughly, and let dry.

Avoid using steel wool, scouring powder, metal scrubing utensils, or colored scrub sponges on nonstick cookware.

Tip:  Lightly oil cooking surface of pots and pans to "season" cookware.

Garbage Disposal
Fill ice-cube tray with 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar and let freeze.  Grind cubes in the disposal once a week.  (The cubes will sharpen the blades.)

Garlic Press
Using soapy water, clean with a brush.  To remove the smell rub with bread.  Make sure to rinse and wipe dry.
Coffee Makers
To remove mineral deposits from drip coffee makers, pour one quart of white vinegar into the carafe, then fill to 10 cup level with cold water.  Pour mixture into water reservoir, turn on as if making a carafe of coffee.  Place fresh filter in the basket, and turn on machine.  Once half mixture has brewed, turn off and let sit for approximately 15 minutes.  Pour mixture back into reservoir and brew completely.  Pour out mixture and brew a full carafe of plain water, discard.

Cleaning Cast Iron
Make sure cast iron is completely cooled before handling.  As a rule cast iron only needs to wiped out with a damp clean cloth after use making sure not to remove seasoning from surface which allows it to become stick resistance.  Make sure cast iron is completely cool.  Wash with sudsy water to remove rust or baked on food stuff.  Can be scrubbed if necessary with brush designed for such.  Completely dry and reseason with oil.  See section on "What is Seasoning".

Cleaning Aluminum Utensils
To remove discoloration and stains from aluminum utensils start by boiling the utensils for five to ten minutes in a solution of two to three tablespoons of cream of tartar, lemon juice, or vinegar for each quart of water.  After boiling, scour lightly with a soap-filled pad.  If you cook acidic foods, such as rhubarb or tomatoes, these will naturally remove stains without affecting the cooked food product.  To remove stains from an alumnum exterior, only use a non-abrasive cleaner.  Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on product care.
